Esther Polk, Manager, Program Support

Esther Polk joined the Insight Center in 1998. She is responsible for managing the work of the Insight Center’s administrative staff. She does this in addition to providing administrative and logistical support to program staff herself. Esther also plays a key role in helping the staff expand the use of the Self-Sufficiency Calculator, a tool used by counselors to help low-income families work toward economic self-sufficiency. Esther’s contributions on the Calculator include organizing trainings, updating website and database information, and keeping abreast of and disseminating relevant current information. Esther also is highly proficient on a wide range of word-processing programs, and her design skills are evident in the majority of the organization’s publications. Esther came to the Insight Center with extensive administrative experience in the nonprofit and public sector, including 19 years with the Berkeley Unified School District.
