Ravi Mangat, Program Manager Ravi Mangat's responsibilities include labor-market research and technical assistance in the areas of workforce and asset development. He has authored numerous publications, most recently Sector Snapshots: A Profile of Sector Initiatives, 2007. Most recently, Ravi worked on a national study examining the effectiveness of minority business enterprises in bidding for state contracts. He also developed a financial model for the Mission Area Federal Credit Union in San Francisco, which was used to launch a new product aimed at shifting low-income workers away from "payday lending." Ravi came to the Insight Center with significant economic and community-development experience, including advanced-level skills in both program formulation and implementation. In England, he worked with the public charity Groundwork Thames Valley to drive and manage the success of multiple government and private-sector projects focused on promoting positive change in struggling communities. This experience included facilitating local community plans, working with CBOs on strategic program development for housing projects, and helping to develop programs for at-risk youth. As an Economic Development Analyst for Roger Tym & Partners Consultancy, also in England, Ravi conducted labor market studies that helped connect local people to higher-wage, higher-skilled jobs. As an Economic Analyst for the Central Government Economic Service in London, Ravi’s research helped inform policy makers and politicians. Ravi received his M.S. in Development Economics from University College London, and his B.A. in Economics from Nottingham Trent University, in Nottingham, U.K.
