Roger A. Clay, Jr. President

Roger A. Clay, Jr.  began his legal career as a law clerk for the Insight Center (then NEDLC) and as a legal services attorney. Prior to rejoining the Insight Center as its President, in 2003, Roger was the General Counsel to the California Housing Finance Agency, a partner with the law firm of Goldfarb & Lipman, specializing in housing and community economic development, Vice-President with the Corporation for Supportive Housing, and a Senior Fellow at the Institute on Race & Poverty.

Roger has served in numerous community and professional leadership roles. He has been the chair of the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, the ABA Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, the ABA Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law and the Stanford Alumni Association. He also sat on the boards of the Center for Community Change, the National Law Center for Homelessness and Poverty, the Low Income Investment Fund, and was vice-chair of the Stanford University Board of Trustees. He is currently on the boards of the Center for Social Inclusion, and the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences and the Center for the Comparative Study of Race and Ethnicity at Stanford University.

Roger is an attorney and licensed social worker.  He received his B.A. in sociology from Stanford University, his M.S.W. from the University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Association of Black Social Workers, and the California and United States Supreme Court Bars.
