Anand Subramanian, Program Manager Anand Subramanian is the Program Manager for the Closing the Racial Wealth Gap Initiative (CRWG)at the Insight Center for Community Economic Development. Anand is responsible for building and expanding the Experts of Color Network, a network of over 150 experts of color in the asset-building field. The network and the online clearinghouse serves as a place for policymakers, journalists and members of the asset development field to access diverse voices on policy and practice that can speak from the perspectives of communities of color. In addition, Anand co-leads the Initiative's policy and media strategy in an effort to expand the reach of the Initiative's work and ensure that experts of color shape national and local economic debates. Previously, Anand was the Field Director of the Law School Consortium Project, a national nonprofit which aimed to make legal services more accessible to low income communities. He was also a collective member of Organizing Youth, which provided progressive South Asian youth with tools to work for political, social, and economic justice. He has acted as Board President of the Japanese Community Youth Council, a nonprofit which supports and facilitates programs for underserved youth in San Francisco. Anand has also practiced as an attorney at various California law firms and is a guitarist/vocalist in the dream pop band, Fair and Kind. Anand graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 2001 and Claremont McKenna College in 1997.
