Good for Business; Good for Communities Convening

The Insight Center's Inclusive Business Initiative hosted a convening of state directors, deputy directors, and managers of minority and women business development offices. The 'Good for Business; Good for Communities' convening, held in Kansas City, Missouri, July 2008, was the first-such gathering of state directors since 1991.

Ronald Langston
Ronald Langston, then National Director of the federal Minority Business Development Agency, provided the keynote address.

Patrice Manuel
Patrice Manuel, owner and
Executive Director of P/Strada, LLC was the luncheon speaker.

Michael Jones-Bey; E. Aggo Akyea
Michael Jones-Bey, New York, and E. Aggo Akyea, Wisconson, participated along with directors or deputy directors from 18 other states.

The purpose of the convening was to provide an opportunity and space to state M/WBE program leaders to share best practices and gain ideas from each other on how to create, enhance, and improve their programs.  The convening is one example of the role that the Insight Center's Inclusive Business Center plays to bring together M/WBE program leaders.
