Karla McLucas

Dr. Karla McLucas is currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Bennett College for Women, one of only two historically Black colleges for women in the United States. Prior to joining the Bennett faculty, Dr. McLucas held senior positions in a variety of local, state, and regional agencies, including Director of Labor and Industrial Relations for the State of Missouri. Prior to this appointment, Dr. McLucas was the Chief Administrator in Missouri’s Fraud Detection and Investigation Section. Before moving to Missouri, shes worked with the City of Los Angeles Department of City Planning as a Land Use and Transportation Element Planner.

Dr.  McLucas received her Ph.D. in Applied Sociology from the University of Missouri and her A.B. and J.D. degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. She also received an M.A. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California Los Angeles.  Dr. McLucas joined the Insight Center board in 1999 and served as Chair from December 2000 to February 2006.
