Roger A. Clay, Jr. President Roger A. Clay, Jr. rejoined the Insight Center in 2003 and has devoted over 40 years of his professional and personal life to improving the lives of low-income individuals and their communities. Roger began his legal career as a law clerk for NEDLC (many years before our name change) and as a legal-services attorney. Prior to rejoining the organization as its President, Roger held the position of General Counsel to the California Housing Finance Agency and was a partner with the law firm Goldfarb & Lipman, specializing in community economic development, redevelopment, and housing. He also served as Vice-President with the Corporation for Supportive Housing in New York City, and was a Senior Fellow at the Institute on Race & Poverty in Minneapolis. Roger has served in numerous community and professional leadership roles. He is the immediate past chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law. Previously he served as chair of the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, the ABA Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, and the Stanford Alumni Association. He also sat on the board of the Center for Community Change, the National Law Center for Homelessness and Poverty, the Low Income Investment Fund, and was vice-chair of the Stanford University Board of Trustees. Roger is an attorney and licensed social worker. He received his undergraduate degree in sociology from Stanford University, his master’s degree in Social Work from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Roger is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Association of Black Social Workers, the National Association of Social Workers, and the California and U.S. Supreme Court Bars.
