Chantel L. Walker, Vice President Chantel L. Walker joined the Insight Center for the 2nd time in October of 2007 as Vice President of Programs. She has worked as a technical assistance provider, grantmaker, advocate, researcher, and direct service provider throughout the country on children, family, and neighborhood economic development issues. Chantel has published and presented on issues of human services reform and community development, community organizing and the role of philanthropy, community infrastructure development, and nonprofit housing finance.Prior to joining the Insight Center, Chantel was a principal of the Walkeryee Group, a national consulting and research firm focused on strategic planning, executive coaching, grantmaking strategy, and policy analysis. Prior to leading the Walkeryee Group, Chantel held several senior positions in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector over the last 20 years. As the Director of Programs and Evaluation at the Marguerite Casey Foundation, she was responsible for guiding the program and evaluation staff in the granting and monitoring of $28 million per year. At Marin Community Foundation, she led a grantmaking program focused on economic development, housing, and, civic engagement. As the Chief Programs and Administrative Officer at PowerUP, a national operating foundation, she was responsible for guiding a broad range of staff focused directing technological resources to youth in underserved communities. As the Children, Youth and Families Division Director at the National Economic Development and Law Center, her work focused on the nexus between human services and economic development. Chantel is an active and dedicated volunteer with several nonprofit organizations and public agencies. She currently sits on the board of the Association of Black Foundation Executives (ABFE), and has previously served on the boards of Neighborhood Funders Group, the State Bar of California, the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, and The Women’s Foundation. Chantel received a Masters of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
