Susie Suafai, Program Director
Susie Suafai joined the Insight Center in 1997. She is responsible for supervising project staff, managing grants and contracts, providing technical assistance to local partners, and conducting and publishing research. Susie recently co-authored Getting to the Table: A Project Labor Agreement Primer. Among her notable accomplishments on this project was the inclusion of community provisions into the Port of Oakland’s Maritime and Aviation Project Labor Agreement. Susie joined the Insight Center with over 23 years experience in workforce development, organizational development, public nonprofit employment training, and other employment issues that impact women and minorities in the construction and related industries. Prior to joining the organization, Susie was the Executive Director for Women in Apprenticeship, where she was instrumental in affecting regulatory changes on the state and federal level for women in construction. She has been recognized for her contribution to the workforce development field by Tradeswomen Inc., California’s first organization for women in the trades.
