Release of Early Care and Education Reports in L.A. On January 14, 2008, the Los Angeles County Child Care Planning Council, Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP), and the City of Los Angeles Workforce Investment Board held a business forum to release two reports produced by the Insight Center. The reports, The Economic Impact of the Early Care and Education Industry in Los Angeles County and Early Care and Education Career Lattices in Los Angeles, demonstrate that child care is a significant industry in Los Angeles (L.A.), providing more than 65,000 jobs and generating more than $1.9 billion in gross receipts annually. At the forum, a panel of L.A. leaders discussed the importance of the industry to the County’s economic infrastructure, and the need for business and government support to strengthen in industry and reap the maximum economic benefit.Speakers on the panel included County Supervisors Yvonne B.
