The "Color of Wealth 2009 Policy Summit: Wealth Building for All: The Foundation for Economic Growth in the Global Marketplace," held on March 23rd and 24th in Washington DC was a resounding success. Over 100 asset-building experts of color from around the country met with members of Congress and policy staff to discuss the gap in economic security and mobility that exists between people of color and whites, and how to address this inequity in a way that will strengthen the economy and expand opportunity for all.
On October 29-30, 2007, over 180 leaders from across the country came together in New York City for the Closing the Racial Wealth Gap Convening hosted by the Ford Foundation and the Insight Center. Participants engaged in deep conversations about the roots of the racial wealth gap and strategies to close it, producing strategic insights and clear recommendations to inform future efforts.
